Scheduling a Tour of the Capitol

During the current Capitol Restoration and Extension Project, the Capitol will be closed to the public while necessary improvements are made to the interior. Outdoor tours of the historic Capitol Grounds will still be offered to individuals and groups, weather permitting. For more information on outdoor tours of the Capitol Grounds, click here.

Directions to the Capitol?

The Capitol is located in the heart of downtown Richmond and is easily accessible from the highway. Directions to the Capitol Square Bus Loop are available from points North, South, East, and West.

Parking at the Capitol

The Capitol is undergoing a Restoration and Extension Project through the early Spring of 2007 and at this time there is no public parking on Capitol Square. There are several parking areas that are within walking distance of the Capitol. Downloadable maps of these parking areas are available, as well as the rates for these areas. Parking is available for charter and school buses in the Capitol Square bus loop.

Note: Due to the increasing construction in Downtown Richmond, some parking lots listed on the links above may not exist any longer.
